In-Step, inc is a family owned and operated business that opened in August of 2009 in the Table Mesa Shopping Center in Boulder, CO. In-Step sells sport accessories, active footwear and apparel for walkers, runners and anyone that enjoys a little extra support and comfort in their day to day functions. The specialty of In-Step is the fabrication of custom made insoles, also known as orthotics or foot supports. Unlike other similar types of products, In-Steps custom insoles are specific to the individual. We can take a mold of your foot and build the insole while you wait. Estimated time is between 30 to 45 minutes. There is no follow up appointment needed, unless you are needing an adjustment, which is at no additional charge!
In the past 13 years, RL's insole customers have consisted of Ironman Champions, Professional Baseball, Football and Basketball players, Indy 500 Racers, Boston, Chicago and New York marathon winners, Hollywood Stuntmen, Nascar Drivers, Tour de France cyclists, Professional Golfers and Olympians.
Owners Tricia Vieth and RL Smith have worked in the active lifestyle business for over 30 years combined. RL and Tricia met at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy where they both became licensed and certified sports therapists. They were married in 2000 and joined by their son, Spencer in 2008. Their life experiences, education and refreshing take on customer service will welcome anyone into the store for the professional advice you look for along with the friendly and welcoming atmosphere to be yourself.
RL Smith was a professional duathlete and triathlete from 1995-2002 racing worldwide. He also was a member of the US Duathlon team from 1992-1995. In 1996, RL was diagnosed with testicular cancer, but this news did not slow him down. He has volunteered to teach cycling classes at a local non-profit and enjoys his running streak of 5 years running with no days off. RL is an expert in body mechanics and can diagnose ailments almost instantly. He h
as been in the cycling and running business for 22 years and 13 of those he has also developed the fine art and science of building custom insoles. Tricia Vieth brings to the In-Step business her education in athletic training/sports medicine and sports administration. She has extensive education and practical experience working with wrestlers, volleyball players and track and field athletes at the Division III level. Tricia was also a national qualifying sprinter in the 100m and 200m distances. With 13 years of previous employment at the YMCA, she is also a certified personal trainer, group exercise instructor, certified faculty in certifying others in customer service related skills and cycling and a life coach. Tricia currently continues her work with the YMCA on a National level as an independent contractor coaching YMCA's across the nation in changing their cultures to better serve individuals newer to exercise and regular healthy lifestyle routines. Recently, she has taken on the role as the Sprint Coach for the Fairview Track and Field team, where in her first year took 9 athletes to the State competition. Tricia enjoys the variety of workout sytles that Colorado has to offer, but mostly spends her time running or on a bike.
